Re: Another Bali Bombing "19 Dead, 51 Hurt, AP Reports" Posted on: Sat, 1 Oct 2005 21:49:46 +0100

Hi,

Before anyone gets the wrong idea let me make it clear, I'm against the
bombing of anybody, by Islamic Extremists, US Air Force, British RAF, the
Israelis, and in this case, possibly JI., I'm a little more than an educated
guy who recognises international injustice. And before you dismiss me as an
idiot who doesn't know Indonesia, let me say I've lived there for many years
and had friends taken hostage, friends murdered and bombed in Indonesia.

If one is trying to identify the cause of the bombing we must look deeper
than this posting suggests, i.e.

a.) Catholic Nuns
b.) Hindu Yogis
c.) Meditating Buddhists
d.) Mormon Boy Scouts
e.) Pagan Bunny Huggers
f.) Mooooslums

We must ask, "Why do these people do such horrendous things". I have spent
many years living with "Mooooslums" in Indonesia and I have found it not so
different from living with other societies in other countries. "Mooooslums"
have the same aspirations and sense of justice as people throughout the
Western World.

It all started in Palestine. The West supported the formation of the Israeli
State, in which the Palestinians were stripped of their country, stripped of
their birth-right, their farms, their homes, their livelihood. It was such
an odious and obvious injustice that all people in the Middle East felt
aggrieved.

That US has funded Israel's terrorisation of it's neighbours has added fuel
to the flames. It is not surprising that the peoples of the Middle East have
a hatred of the US? Is it surprising that people like myself feel that there
has been an injustice? It is not surprising that extremists from the group
have wanted to redress that injustice.

It is quite natural that Al Qaida developed. It is not surprising that
"Mooooslums" wanted to fight back. Once again let me say I don't support Al
Qaida, but I do understand how it developed and how their activists feel. I
am not supporting these bombers. The issues is. 'Why do they want to bomb'.
Although I'm confident that I know the cause, sadly I can not give an
answer. Once you let the Genie out of the bottle, it is hard to get it back
in the bottle.

Forgive me if I seem unsympathetic, believe me, I have been nearer to these
problems than this guy who wants to shout out his views on "Mooooslums". To
solve this problem we need to look at the cause of the problem, not have
some guy express his simplistic hatred for another race/colour/religion.

Cheers,
