With your apparent love for your dog, you might reconsider visiting
Vietnam. They eat dogs there, particularly in the north. I found
Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar much more interesting. If you do
go, make sure to visit Halong Bay for the beautiful scenery.
