My Malaysian wife also always reads these online reports (she checks the
chinapress.com.my site) and is also very scared. But the fact is that
these newspapers routinely report petty crimes, .s etc., so whoever
reads these reports might get the impression that Malaysia is an unsafe
country. Personally I've never experienced a crime in Malaysia (and am
currently on a holiday in Kuala Lumpur).
I guess that anybody who follows the local online newspapers of a
particular country might think that this particular country is unsafe,
because only crimes are reported in the newspaper.
