I think HK is one of the safest places in the worlld to go hiking by
yourself. I've certainly never had any problem. Some of the hiking,
particularly in the Sai Kung Country Park, is top rate. Check out the Sai
Kung country park sections of the MacLehose trail on the web, and if you're
a competent hiker with suitable foot wear, I would recommend the accents of
Ma On Shan and especially Sharp Peak The views from the top of Sharp Peak
are truly magical.
