Re: Garuda flights to Europe Posted on: Sat, 8 Apr 2006 09:53:33 +0000 (UTC)

We' ve inquired at their head office in Djakarta, they say it's
"permanent for the time being"
We used to fly AMS-CKG with Garuda because they were the only carrier
who would upgrade you from Economy to Business for a relatively small
amount of money. Their service was excellent. Recently we opted for EVA
Air because their Evergreen Class is similar. The space is just a
little bit less than with Garuda but still it's heaven compared with
the cramped conditions of a 13-hour flight in everybody's Economy. Just
one other drawback : on the outbound flight one has to stop over one
night in Taipei (Transit hotel in the airport, courtesy EVE Air). The
13-hour flight is from AMS to Bangkok. There is another 3 and a half
hours to Taipei. But check their flight from London: it may be a direct
flight to Taipei, possibly with an
onward connection to CKG on the same day.
