October is a good month. Not too hot and not cold. Iran is one of the
best countries I have ever travelled, you will see a completely
different picture compared to what western mass media tell you.

Visas take about 2 weeks, difficult only for British citizens and
mostly impossible for US.

Travel inside Iran is like any other country, very easy and there are
some of the most friendly people in the world. Just keep decent
clothes and decent behaviour, women need to cover their hair.
