I do not see the difference between an animal raised for meat and a pet
(yes I had one), both are living creatures and shoudl be treated with
pets. I seriously doubt that animals feel better, when they are treated
as "friends" of animal loving humans (thinking e.g. of nearly all dogs
living in appartments!)
As European I do not dare to judge about others, since I know that here
in Europe living cattle and picks are transported for 1000s of km to
bring them to another place for sloughter, so that industrie gets better
prices and export/import funding. We all benefit from that by bying meat
for inredibly cheap prices in supermarkets ... nobody really cares and
accepts how it is, since it is not really visible ... I did not read the
article you postet, but I'd say beating animals to death is not so
different from that ... so stay off europe as well!
