In the US many more dogs and cats are slaughtered. You just don't know
it. Ever been to a pound or a shelter? Do you know there are people
who farm pets for profit? Frequently pets are given as a gift to
recipeints who are not ready or capable of taking care of them. Into
the pound they go in no time when the owner can not handle them. When
the pets population strains the pound's capability to manage, many are
put to sleep.
We are no better.
