Here's a rough list of our previous trips. The first was a leisurely
three weeks, the others were two. In 2001 and 2004 se started, briefly
from Tokyo, 2003 and 2004 from Osaka. All trips had 3-4 days in Tokyo
on the back end.
Perhaps the more experienced see a noteworthy gap in our experience.
It's too cold for Hokkaido which is a lost day in transit. So far I
can't see much of a route or rationale in Shikoku.
1 - 2001 - Takayama, Kyoto, Shiraishi Island, Hakone. (No day trips)
2 - 2002 - Osaka, Matsue, Kyoto, Kiso Valley on the way to onsen near
Matsumoto,
3 - 2003 - Osaka (Nara), Beppu, Fukuoka (Nagasaki), Kobe, (Himeji and
Awaji-Shima)
4 - 2004 - Hachi-Mantai, Morioka (Kakunodate, Tonno), Sendai
(Matsushima, Aizu-Wakamatsu).
5 - 2005 - No trip!
