If I wanted to help the terrorists, I would ignore a report saying they
wanted to strike, and do nothing against al-Qaeda for many months. Then
when they struck, I would fly the chief suspect's family out of the
country immediately. I would then launch a futile war for false reasons
against a secular leader who had nothing to do with them. In the process
I would kill thousands of innocent civilians in order to generate as
much support for anti-Americanism as I could. I would detain people in
prisons and .ually humiliate them, taking photos of these activities.
I would kidnap people from all over the world, and throw them into a
concentration camp with no rights, releasing many of them a few years
later with no explanation and no apology. I would suspend many of the
freedoms usually expected in a democracy.
But I am too late. The Republicans have already done every single one of
those things.
