Under certain conditions, yes. But it now requires a permit,
and culling of the rarer macropods is illegal.
Most native Australian fauna are protected, including snakes and
sharks.
It wasn't all that long ago that a driver paid a hefty fine for
deliberately running over a flock of parrots on a highway.
Humans are definitely a protected species in Australia. It
doesn't even execute mass murderers any more. Although
most may spend the rest of their lives in the slammer.
I have repeatedly told people on this group that Australia is
a safe destination for tourists & migrants.
Do you really want to discourage either tourists or immigrants?
Regards.
