Subject: Airfare from US to Australia

Hi,
I plan on taking a trip to Australia for about 5-6 months. Going to
the Gold Coast, it seems tickets will cost over 2 grand (looking at
online airfares as well as talking to travel agents). Does anyone know
of any ways to get cheaper airfare, or is it generally more expensive
to have 6 month tickets?
