In NZ it is possible to rent a car and separate motel accomodation for
similar price of a motorhome, provided you stay at budget level motels.
There are plenty of options for say $65 a night, but still very good. You
willl average less with a bit of haggling and the odd night in a cabin,
found in most camping grounds. Cabins can be quite cheap if you have your
own bedding.
