Greetings.
My wife and I will be touring New Zealand in Ace rental cars this
coming May-June and need a recommendation for a hotel near the
airports in both Christchurch and Auckland. We will only be in those
cities temporarily to catch flights in and out of the airports there.
The situation is that we need to return the car to the Ace office on
Lichfield Street in Christchurch (they don't have an airport office)
the day before we depart for Auckland, then get a ride to the hotel;
then must get to the airport in the wee hours of the next morning from
whatever hotel we stay at . We will be carrying all our luggage, so
public transport may not work for us.
Similarly, we need a handy-to-the-airport (or with an airport shuttle)
hotel in Auckland for the next rental car/hotel/airport change at
Auckland (three weeks later) to the Cook islands -- where we will
spend a week before returning home to the US.
Finally, if anyone here is familiar with Rarotonga we are seeking
similar information about a hotel and shuttle from and to the airport
at Avarua. Apparently one must get into town to get a Cook Islands
driver's licence before being able to rent a car at the airport?
