Didnt find bugs to be a problem, I was there twice, once in April and once at
New Years. The Kuyaba has both rustic and modern rooms, I recommend the deluxe
rooms or the honeymoon suite which is only $10 more a night and has a huge deck.
There are deluxe rooms at ground level and one flight upstairs. The cabins are
rustic and part of the older resort which was called the Sea Gem. The bar and
eating area is fantastic, built all out of wood and stone and projects right out
to the edge of the beach. Spending the mornings on that deck eating breakfast
was one of the highlites of our trip...an unlimited refills of blue mtn. coffee.
The food at the Kuyaba gets high marks by everyone...dinner costs between $8 and
$16.

The Kuyaba is owned by Jamaicans, well run, and is the perfect balance between
Jamaican atmosphere/culture and comfort.

We paid $70 for a JUTA van for three of us to Negril from the airport. There is
also a JUTA bus that charges $20 per person but makes several stops. Just ask
for a JUTA driver at the airport or hotel. JUTA is an organization of taxi
drivers for use by tourists. It took a little over an hour on the brand new
road. Negril is a small town, there you can take local route taxis to get back
and forth along the beach and to the cliff areas. The hazard in driving in
Jamaica is on the open road where high speeds and dangerous passing is
commonplace.

For more info on Negril, go to http://negril.com/config.pl, although keep in
mind this is a commercial message board and negative comments and opinions maybe
filtered out.
