I hope this wasn't a surprise to you. Anytime you reveal an email address
to anyone (friend, family or newsgroup) you've opened yourself up as a
spam target.

Unless you want to spend the rest of your Internet life hiding from
spammers by using bogus or throwaway accounts, you'd be better off taking
actions to protect your real address.

My ISP uses the Postini commercial filtering service, and I use
SpamAssassin on my own systems.
