The beaches in Pointe du Bout are man-made. Though it is interesting to see
how one can truck in sand and create a beach.
There are also ferries to Anse Mitan (which is easy walking distance from
Pointe du Bont) and to Anse-à-L'Ane. Both of these are real beaches. Anse
Mitan is not walking distance from Anse-à-L'Ane, but the ferry that goes to
these two places goes to both (but switches the order of which comes
first). So you could check out both these beaches.
Another option is to rent the car in Pointe du Bout. Many rental places
there with competitive rates. I rented from Jumbo Car. Fortunately the car
wasn't jumbo sized, but was a Renault Clio with a 1.2 litre engine. My
favorite of the three I rented that trip (the other two in Guadeloupe).
