Subject: Private . getaway's in Mexico/Caribbean? Posted on: Sat, 21 Aug 2004 00:24:49 -0000

My wife and I have never been to Mexico or the Carribean. In fact, we've
never ventured outside the United States other than a brief day trip to
Canada. Our biggest vacation was a 10 day trip to Hawaii back in 2000.

Anyway, I'm trying to research Mexico and the Carribean area for a future
vacation. We're in our late 30's and have absolutely no interest in the big
resorts, hotels, swimming pools, night life, or partying. We prefer more
private getaway's where we can relax, enjoy the scenery, and reconnect with
each other.

Ideally, I would like to find a private cottage, somewhere on a beach,
where we can hang out . together, relax in solitude, and walk . down
to the beach for a swim. We're not into the "lifestyles" or "social nudity"
scene, so . clubs and resorts aren't really of much interest.

I discovered a place called "Azulik" (www.azulik.com) in Tulum, Mexico that
is the closest to my ideal I have seen. Right on the ocean, clothing
optional, and rustic but not quite camping. Unfortunately, from what I can
tell, the cabanas are really close together, there isn't much of beach in
front of the cabanas, and I've read several conflicting reviews of the
place.

My wife and I only Speak english, and don't know a word of Spanish. So
that's something else we have to consider for our getaway. And, safety is a
big concern as well.

Are there any places anywhere in Mexico/The Caribbean like this, or am I
dreaming?

Also, what are good months to travel to the area? Not too hot, low risk of
hurricanes, lowest chance of rain, slowest tourist season, etc.

What other items would I need to consider? Passports, immunizations, etc.?

We live in Washington state.

Thanks,

Anthony
