Skip said it as well as I could. Long Island is hit by more storms than
any island. A direct hit on a tourist area in the Caribbean has roughly
an equivalent effect as a big snow storm around here.
More likely, you'll get more showers than you would the rest of the
year, typically the 10-minute variety. Take a light rain jacket or
windbreaker for them, and plan ahead.
I've heard stories from bareboaters who "rode out" storms during their
trips. They listened to the weather and adjusted their schedule so their
"shore time" (shopping, museums, etc.) coincided with the storms. They
missed nothing and got comped for their "trouble".
