Why retire to the Caribbean? If you don't like the cold, you can go
to the southern US where you still have good medical care.
I consider that hurricanes are equally as much of a problem or maybe
more of a problem as snow and cold weather. (Of course we get both
here on the east coast, but after a lifetime, I'm prepared for that).
Also I'd want to keep contact with friends and family, particularly
children and grandchildren. If I went to the Caribbean, I'd probably
never see my son's family unless I flew home periodically.
That's not to say that I don't want to travel to the Caribbean. But
I'm happily retired here. If money is no object I could just as
easily fly to various places periodically.
