The "gauntlet" has largely been moved outside the terminal. The car
rental adgencies all have booths just after you clear customs. Somone
will walk you out to the curb where their shuttle bus will pick you up
and take you to the nearby rental office. It's pretty easy.

Learn enough Spanish to understand what the signs say, don't drive if
you've been drinking, and don't drive at night if you can avoid it. Hwy
307 has been vastly improved and the toll roads are great.
