I went to Central Mexico a couple of months ago and stayed with some
friends. I made the mistake of going out on my own for a day and drove the
two hours down to Acapulco. The Policia pulled me over as I neared the city
limits and told me that I had disobeyed the law and he pulled out a document
that stated that my fine was 5000 pesos ( US $500.00). I had U.S. $51.00 and
300 pesos in my wallet and had to give him $50.00 just to make him go away.
He wanted to take me to an ATM to withdraw cash. I told him that I didn't
have a credit card.
I've hired mexicans here, treated them well and paid them well ($10.00 per
hour). That mexican cop just did a disservice to his countrymen because I
will never hire a mexican again. I'll find a teenager in the neighborhood
instead.
And I'll never go back to Mexico.
