I stayed at TBR about 3 years ago. At that time the Marriott was under
construction but was not yet completed. They are both in the Frigate Bay
area of St Kitts. From what I recall, the waters at TBR where a bit calmer
than that near the Marriott. TBR is considered to be a 2-star hotel but I
was very satisfied with my stay. They have a restaurant that was reasonable
and served very good food. The Marriott is definitely within walking
distance, no more than half a mile I would say. In terms of eating options,
you could always eat at TBR, or try a few restaurants nearby, or go to the
other resorts. However, to try the really good restaurants, you may have to
have a car or take a cab. If you want to splurge on a meal one day, try
Marshall's, considered one of the best in the islands. Lastly, on the beach
at TBR is the monkey bar, a circular bar on the beach that is a favorite
hangout in the evening to watch the sunset and drink some Kalik beer. This
bar was frequented by people from other resorts.
To answer your question, it depends if you want to spend the extra $50 per
day to stay at a supposed 4-star hotel as opposed to a 2-star hotel. For my
money, TBR was more than adequate.
