We were just in San Juan last week on a cruise ship, and I wanted to
see Old San Juan and the forts and also the rainforest. So I hired a
private guide with a car - price is about $50/hour for up to 6
people. We picked up 3 other people at hotels. It was a wonderful
experience.
Guides in Puerto Rico have to be licensed. The one I used is Marian
Balbin. "mariana balbin" who was born in NYC
and grew up there and then when her parents moved back to PR, she
moved also. Her phone # is 939 642 7095 cell and 787 720-8164 home.
She has her own mini van, so she can drive all over the narrow
streets of Old San Juan; larger buses of tour companies can not. She
can either bring you to El Yunque and/or Old San Juan.
