I spent a week on Barbados about six or seven years ago. Great place.
We rented a small villa called Turtle Cove from Ronald Stoute & Sons...

...along the southeast coast. The waves are higher along that part of
the island since it faces the Atlantic, but it's a beautiful area. We
did all the typical tourist things (Harrison's Cave, sugar cane fields,
cricket games, flying fish sandwiches, etc.). What kind of "insider
info" are you looking for?
