Costa Maya is an artificial port developed for and by cruise lines.
There are some nice beaches reachable by taxi but that's about it. The
port of call hasn't had the time to develop varied diversions the way
another artificial port, Cancun has. There is a nice pool with lounge
chairs and swim up bar that is for the exclusive use of cruise passengers.
Perhaps if you pose your questions at alt.travel.cruises you will get
more input about your stops.
