We've been to Bonaire many times. There are several dive operations
within walking distance from the cruise ship dock. Both the Divi
Flamingo and the Plaza hotels have dive shops and boats. There are
several hotels north of town (too far to walk) that also have dive
operations: Captain Don's, Buddy Dive, Lion Dive, and Sand Dollar.
Harbor Village has been closed off and on when we have visited. They
had a great restaurant that we visited once, but every other time we
went there it was closed. Harbour is north of town, but not quite as
far as the other four.
The Plaza has a nice beach and good snorkeling from shore. They have a
charge for day visitors (it was $5 last time we were there). There's a
snack bar, bar, several restaurants, dive shop, and small grocery there.
We've stayed there and we like their beach a lot. The Divi also has a
day rate. Their beach is not as nice as the Plaza, and I don't know
what the snorkeling is like there. I like their restaurant, however.
I suspect you could contact the Plaza or Divi dive shop and arrange in
advance for a dive trip.
There's not much to see on Bonaire (above the water, that is). There
are some historic slave huts south of town, slat flats where salt is
made from sea water by evaporation, a high hill where you can see a lot
of the island, and a shallow place on the other side of the island
that's supposedly great for wind surfing. It's not much for shopping
either. When you get off the boat, there will be a lot of cabs and
buses offering various tours.

Have a great trip,
