Because the Eastern Caribbean dollar is fixed to the US dollar, the
exchange rate between them is usually quite fair. Officially it is 2.67
(think 8/3), which you will get at a St. Lucian bank. At a hotel desk on
St. Lucia they will give you 2.65. If you use US dollars to buy something
inexpensive in a shop, they will take it, but usually will give you only
2.50, which is easy to multiply.

Because Eastern Caribbean dollars will be harder to get in the UK, you are
probably better off starting with US dollars, and changing to Eastern
Caribbean dollars after you arrive.
