And there is another aspect.. Unless you have a permanant resident visa
of some sort, you could end up owning property that you can't go visit.

And since you arn't a citizen of the country in question, you have little
say over what happens with respect to the laws of that country.. say..
something like... "property owned by a foreigner will be taxed at %600 of
what a local would pay"... It's a bit like city hotel room taxes in the US..
Since people who live in a city rarely use a local hotel, there is little
objection to hotel taxes...
