Subject: Re: Barbados- Looking for recommendations Posted on: Sun, 20 Aug 2006 22:52:48 +0200

Hi Sandi,

We have been to Barbados several times, and the last 3 times stayed at
Coconut Court. An exellent hotel, very homy, friendly and relaxed
atmosphere.
We love it there, and have booked the hotel from december 7th to 27.

There are several places to recommend to go to. Dont miss out Oistins Fish
market. Most lively on friday nights. Lots of good food, music and things
that happens. You can go there any night, but fridays is most fun. Just take
the bus right outside the hotel. It only take 15 minutes or so.

Harrisons Caves is very exiting to see. You take a eletcric train around in
the spectacular limestone caves on the center of the island. You can either
drive there with a rental car, taxi, or you can take a Harrisons Cave bus
from the main bus terminal in Bridgetown.

A trip to the east coast is also very nice. The island is very different,
depending on where you are. The south coast where you stay is very busy,
while the east coast is more untouched, quiet and lots of nice nature. Just
be careful with the sea. Dont swim on the east coast. Big wawes!

I love the catamaran tours, and you can book one directly at the hotel. The
tour goes along the coast, probably the west coast. You sail, stop for
snorkeling, swimming and relaxing on the beach. Eat and drink on board.
Very very nice thing to do!

Places to eat? Red Rooster across the street is ok. But that is a place I
use to go mostly for having a drink. Brown Sugar is good. Located next to
the gas station on the left side on your way to Bridgetown. Take 15 minutes
to walk from the hotel. There are plenty places to eat in St.Lawrence Gap. A
street that wake up in the night time. Sweet Potato is good. Josefs is
exellent, but pricy. But if you look for something to do a special occation,
Josefs is the place to go. Plenty good places to go to listen to music and
dance also in St.Lawrence Gap. Reggea Lounge, After Dark, Ship Inn.... Each
place has their nights that is good. Ship Inn can be good one night, and
quiet the next. Depends on what band that is playing. So ask around.

Well, that was at least a little beginning, if you have any kind of
questions, feel free to ask.
