Depends on your travel tastes. If you speak some Spanish and don't
mind 'roughing' things a little (don't expect western standards) then
it is well worth travelling the countryside (rent a car) and stay in
private B & B (casas particulares). People are friendly, you can
eat authentic food deliciously prepared, and the country and history
are very interesting. When we did it we ran into people who could
take us diving on pristine reefs and horse riding through the
canefields.
There are a lot of must-see places through the country, including
towns like Trinidad and various nature reserves, as well as the
fascinating, crumbling, UNESCO world heritage site of old Havana.
