Some of the hotels have restaurants that are 'listed' on the list of
good ones. And not all the good restaurants - or rather IMHO many of
the good restaurants are not in the French Quarter.
Except for Bourbon Street where there are plenty of people all the
time, I think some areas of the French Quarter are not really safe for
tourists to be wandering around at night, especially if they are half
pissed.
If you are driving to NOLA (which I do NOT recommend), you should
definitely consider staying somewhere outside the French Quarter as
parking at a hotel is EXTREMELY expensive.
