Abbas wasn't active, and about the only terrorist found in Iraq. Make no
doubt about it, most terrorists are from U.S. ally countries: Saudi
Arabia (including bin Laden), Egypt (including Ayman al-Zawahiri),
Jordan (including al-Zaqawri), Kuwait, and Pakistan. Places like Iran,
Iraq, and Syria have produced few al-Qaeda members, I can't think of one
actually, and all of these countries, including and perhaps especially
the American allies, have financially supported Palistinian groups
linked to terrorism. Per al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist group Ansar
al-Islam, they were active in the Kurdish-controlled area of Iraq.
It's questionable if Abbas died of a heart attack but few are that
concerned.
I think the ship hijacked was the Achille Lauro (something like that).
And this was in a time when Lebanon was a disaster area and aircraft
were hijacked, hostages were taken in a few instances--a fairly active
time of terrorism, similar to now but more politicized.
