If you don't have any particular hotel/motel brand loyalties and you're
not collecting "points" redeemable for future stays, then I suggest you
use Priceline for your pre-cruise night. You will get a very nice hotel
for $100, but you probably won't have to spend nearly that much for
something you'd be comfortable with. I just got the Amerisuites for a
bid of $70. Select "downtown" or "airport" to be closest to the cruise
terminal. Some of the hotels in the area offer both free shuttles from
the airport to the property as well as from the property to the cruise
port. Or, take a taxi - the distances are pretty close, so that won't
run you more than $10-15.

It's definitely smart to plan to fly in AT LEAST a day early, if not
two, that time of year. Takes a lot of the stress out of the equation.
I live in the northeast, and have to deal with winter weather as well,
when I fly down to Florida for a winter cruise. Having that extra time
built into your plans is a MUST! And, if you do get to Florida on
schedule, you can enjoy your extra day or two of vacation in a much
more pleasant winter climate than you have in Pittsburgh.
