I like pre-paid tipping. It's one less thing to track while on
vacation. Try as I might to use credit cards ashore, I always find I
get better deals in the local currency. By the last night of a cruise I
have so much mixed currency that it seems unfair to tip with it. So
auto-tipping works for me. When I get home, my bank can usually exchange
it at good rates for me.
