Hi:
I'm a weekend lurker, so I saw your post for the first time today.
We had Travelex insurance for a trip to Italy in 2002, and unfortunately we
needed to use it. My husband caught the flu, developed pneumonia, his lungs
shut down, and finally he passed almost three months later (still in Italy).
Travelex was with me almost every step of the way, including getting medical
updates every few days and either calling me or emailing me the translations
(most of the doctors and other health care professionals in Italy didn't
speak English). They handled the logistics of transferring him to a
different hospital in a different city, and they paid the transport bill
completely (including having a doctor with him for entire trip). When I
finally returned to the US and filed the claim (with two inches of documents
and receipts), I was promptly paid according to the contract. I only wish
our regular medical provider was that competent (it took two and a half
years to get them to pay up).
Bottom line - I used most of Travelex's services and was very satisfied with
their service, timeliness, and compassion.
