I think it's a Venus/Mars thing, LOL. Most women I know seem to enjoy
dressing up more than most men I know. For guys, I think a good part of
the problem is wearing a rented tux or an old suit that just doesn't fit
comfortably. Me, I'll pull out a suit I plan on wearing, or my tux, a
couple of weeks before a cruise or other occasion. If it doesn't feel
right, I'll have it altered. Saying "I'll squeeze into it this once and
lose the weight later" does not work.
On a cruise, I'd rather see people wearing their own clothing that fits,
even if it means suits and sport coats rather than a tux. The collar
tugging, coat so tight you can't move your arms, and "floodrider" pant
hems of all those rented tuxes makes formal night look like a bad prom
sometimes. And if the suit fits comfortably, maybe guys won't be in
such a hurry to take it off after dinner.
