Not necessarily. My experience has been that I'll become friendly with
people during the cruise (singles and couples) who will suggest meeting
for dinner. It can be the same people each night or not.

In other words, you get to eat with people you know you like already.
By the time you sit down for dinner, the mindless chatter is done with.
