This was posted on the Port of New Orleans website. The good news is
that the parking lots in New Orleans were not flooded. The bad news is that
a lot of the cars were broken into and looted. If you have a car there,
that website has information you can use to help recover your car.

We have completed a list of vehicles that remain in the Tchoupitoulas
surface parking lot and the Fulton St. Garage utilized by the Carnival
passengers that were diverted to Galveston because of Hurricane Katrina.
Also information for the Poydras Street surface lot and the Delta Queen
parking garage is included. These lists are compiled by make, model, color
and license number of each vehicle, and a brief description of damages.
Almost all of the damage consists of broken windows, steering column damage
and removal of cd players and other electronic equipment. Although none of
the parking lots flooded, we do not warrant the drive-ability of any
vehicle. Some vehicles have been stolen, so if you do not see your vehicle
on the lists, it can be assumed to have been stolen. All of the parking
lots are open and accessible during daylight hours. However, there are
limitations for entry into Orleans Parish. Some passengers have already
removed vehicles. Entry into the Parish is controlled by the City of New
Orleans, and we cannot predict when it will be accessible to the general
public. For further information on entry into Orleans Parish, please
contact the City's office of emergency preparedness at (504) 658-2009.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to supply you with more in depth
information on individual vehicles. If your vehicle is listed as damaged,
or it is not on the list, it is suggested that you notify your insurance
carrier. If your vehicle is not listed, please contact Mr. Johnny Cefalu
at (504) 528-3219, and we will make another sweep of the lots to make sure
we did not overlook it.
