I like that transition, too, and it's one reason I like sailing from
New York. I guess I should clarify that by saying I like sailing from
the Hudson River piers rather than the other, newer options. I
remember sailing from New York on my very first cruise (to Bermuda)
and the excitement of passing some grand scenery, then leaving calm
waters for the open sea.
Of course, I still think the river terminal needs a lot of work and
the traffic is a nightmare, but once you're on the water, it's a
magnificent ride.
