Here is the latest on this idiocy.
I was only on hold 47 minutes and only had to call back three times, but, I
finally managed to actually speak to a person. She was very pleasant. I
went through the whole story several times before she finally grasped what
was going on. She has decided to turn it over to her supervisor which is
what I told her I wanted to do in the first place. (thanks Jean) Her
supervisor is supposed to call me back tomorrow. She even gave me a name and
direct phone number! So, I'll know tomorrow if I need to travel north to
visit Trenton.
One interesting thing I learned is that the people that actually handle the
records, and the people that actually receive the requests are not even in
the same building. They only communicate by fax and phone. No email,
electronic transfer, or otherwise.
She said If I show up in Trenton, I'd have to come to the request office and
go through the situation with them, then they will call it in to the other
office to verify that there actually is an error on the certificate. Once
it's verified that there is a problem, the record handling people will issue
a correction notification to the request office. Therequest office will
actually handle the paper work and make the corrections, but I have to go
across town to actually get the certificate.
I don't know if this is actually true but it is what it is.
Incidentally, Vitalcheck has changed there delivery time frame from 18-22
days to 55 days or more!
