To me a balcony is NOT a critical factor. We've had balconies on maybe 6-7
of our 30+ cruises. Very nice... but not if the price is too high. But
some sunlight is a critical factor, from a claustrophibia standpoint -
cabins are rather small.
A nice compromise is an obstructed view cabin. There is a lifeboat blocking
most of your view, but you do get a window and some sunlight.
To me, not as good as a balcony or an outside, but better than an inside.
My vote... look for something a week long.
Another thought... how about driving out East and getting a Bermuda ship
from NYC. Or even Amtrak. To me, Bermuda is 10X better than anything in
the Bahamas.
