Cancelling a cruise and trip insurance Posted on: Fri, 13 Jan 2006 13:39:14 -0800

I booked a May 2006 Baltic Sea cruise last October, as part of a much
longer European vacation. I've made the $100/person cruise deposit
along with deposits for lodging in London and Edinburgh. No lodging
reservation made yet for Copenhagen, the cruise embarcation port. Final
cruise payment due in mid February, a little over a month from now.

In decades of travel, I've never cancelled or missed a trip. I've also
never bought any kind of trip cancellation insurance. Now, due to a
family illness, the odd are quite high I will have to cancel the entire 32 day
trip, including the 10 night cruise. Bummer. So now I have some questions.

1. Am I correct to assume that it is too late to buy Trip Cancellation Insurance?

2. If not too late, what else can you tell me about it?

3. Have you ever had trouble cancelling a cruise?

4. Have you ever had your credit card charged on a date earlier than scheduled
for final payment?
