I was kind of forced into using a friend's TA when I booked a cruise
for thier wedding. This TA didn't know our preferences, but insisted
that we allow her to pick our cabin location because she knew "best"
which was the right cabin for us. Most of the other 40 or so guests let
this TA pick their cabin. I insisted on selecting our own, which was a
good thing. She assumed we'd want to be close to the elevator for
convenience, close to thehub of activity, etc. I still remember the too
long discussion (argument?) that we had, where I had to talk her into
booking an aft balcony jr. suite for us! It was just INSANE!!! TAs are
helpful in some respects, but, unless I'm booking a guarantee (which is
happening more and more) cabin selection is my decision...not my TAs.
I, too, can look at deck plans and see which cabins have bigger
balconies. It's not rocket science, and no one, not even the world's
best TA, knows what cabin is going to make me happiest. A good TA, to
me, is one that does what I ask them to do. Fortunately, I think I've
finally found that TA. Yippee!!!
