There has been a lot of input and some very helpful suggestions and ideas
presented in response to this original post. Therefore, let me share an idea
in reference to the talk about who is actually going to sit through 250
pictures or more? Personally, I take a lot of digital pictures, over 1,200
on our last cruise vacation to Hawaii, as I already pointed out in my last
response to this post. Even editing that number down to 835, who is going to
want to look at all these pictures?
I found (hopefully) a solution which is presented here just for
consideration. Since these are digital pictures, I put all of them on-line
in one of these photo albums programs, but set it up with its own Website
address. Now, here the real solution, while the general album may be called
"Hawaii" in this case, I divided everything into "Chapters" under this
Hawaii category. Therefore, viewers to this Website can pick and choose just
what they want to look at, which is now presented as a manageable sets of
photos. For an example, I have just 20 pictures in a Chapter call Kauai via
Helicopter, and another Chapter of 20 pictures of our Luau in Maui.
Altogether, I have 34 Chapters in this Hawaii photo alums, so viewers can
pick and choose what they want to see and when they want to see it.
Likewise, it can even be presented as a slideshow, and graphically when
designed, there are many options to choose from for the final presentation.
Since the pictures are always on-line, anyone at all can access them at any
time. Likewise, since the screen resolution is limited on a computer, the
photos are saved at 480 x 640 resolution, so each file size is kept to a
minimum for loading purposes, for a larger file size would not product a
better looking image on screen anyway. However, access is still available,
right from each photo itself, for a higher resolution image, for printing
purposes, etc.
I'm not saying this would work for everyone, as it did for me, it is just a
suggestion. To see exactly what I mean in this particular case, just click
on http://www.ourfamilyalbums.photosite.com/Hawaii/ to see this particular
album for yourself. And no, this is not tooting my own horn, after all,
these are just pictures. However, the concept of an on-line photo album may
help in some cases.
Thanks for your time.
