Subject: OT: Buying a digital camera Posted on: Sat, 28 Jan 2006 07:57:36 EST

Time to give up on my beloved point and shoot Olympus Stylus Zoom
camera. It was tiny but mighty. Sadly, I can now long rely on the camera
as it randomly rewinds film in the middle of a roll with depressing
frequency. I was told that the industry for the everyday photographer is
moving away from film and that I need to switch to digital. I know
nothing about digital cameras. I'd love some recommendations for a good
quality camera with an optical zoom that's not too complicated to use. I
don't want to pay more than $400, and, I have no objections to paying
somewhat less.

Recommendations please. Thanks.
