Subject: Re: Fly to Med - then cruise. Suggestions? Posted on: Mon, 6 Feb 2006 09:08:17 -0600

Ike,

Almost all of the major mass market cruise lines offer Med cruises. Their
season is generally late April-late October. I think the Travelocity
*advanced* cruise search finder is a great way to identify those options.
There are many small ship choices and Euro-based choices, as well, some of
which cruise during the winter months. A terrific site to get you going on
those lesser known options is http://www.smallshipcruises.com/

The Med is a "hot" cruise destination. If you are interested in this summer
2006, I encourage you to keep your nose to the ground researching so you can
book soon. You might discover availability is already an issue, at least
with regard to popular ships and/or desirable cabins. Pricing remains
strong....

FYI, all peak summer cruises, no matter where in the world you go, will have
more children aboard than during "in-school" sailings. The Med is a
particular favorite of North American & European families, for obvious
reasons. However, if you are looking for the warmth of summer, then the end
of May/first two weeks in June is a great compromise, as there will be some
but not a lot of kids. We did a fabulous 14-night Med cruise on Celebrity's
Millennium in June 04...check out the itinerary, we thought the one-way
Barcelona-Venice (or vice-versa) line-up that included Greece was among the
most attractive for diversity of port experiences.
