If folks truly don't want to pay extra for these seats, last minute or
otherwise then they will fly an airline that doesn't charge extra. As I
understand it Northwest is struggling to come back from bankruptcy or is
teetering on the edge. These are desperate acts of a disparate airline.
In the end the no frills airlines who never offered soda pop and nuts
will probably win out.
