I can tell you have never been to SF. It's my hometown, well up until I
turned 18 and went into the Army. Only city in the world I cannot get lost
in and can find any address.
Anyway, the cruise pier is next to Fisherman's Wharf on the Embarcadero.
The Airport is of course way out in actually San Mateo. I would venture to
say it's a good 20+ miles as a Taxi flies down Highway 101.
Before you go, check with I think the SF Airporter. They used to run busses
between the airport and downtown SF. However, I would think there would be
some commercial services available besides Taxi's that can take you to the
airport from the cruise terminal. Call or check with the San Francisco
Visitors Bureau or Travelers Aid. I'm surprised you can't get this
information from the cruise line. Don't be surprised if a Taxi with meter
running runs you around $50 at least.
You might want to spend the night in SF before your cruise.
