Your best bet for kid free anything is to go while they are in school. July
and August will not be that time. Sometimes we cruise with our kids, and
look forward to their being lots of others, and sometimes we cruise alone
and hope not to hear any!! I can honestly say that in 7 cruises, kids have
never been a problem FOR US. Everyone has their own tolerances.
Some things you can do to minimize your contact though...
1.make sure you get a balcony cabin so you can sit outside when you want to
in relative peace.
2. On the first night at dinner, check out the proximity of your table to
the little critters and ask to be moved immediately if it is not to your
liking.
3. Stick with the more exclusive lines (read: expensive) because sometimes
that will weed out families for practical purposes.
4. And last but not least, hang out anywhere they are playing ballroom
music. It is the kryptonite of a teen!

We took all 4 of our kids to Hawaii on NCL. The ship was full of kids in
June of 2003. I don't know if Holland America does Hawaii, but they have a
little older clientele. You still may end up with grandchildren however.
Good luck
